Travel; Why I Love It!

For most of my life I’ve lived in the Hartford, Connecticut area. Ever since I was a child, I’ve possessed a sort of wanderlust that started with me occasionally taking off on long bicycle rides alone. Seeing different sights and meeting new people really interested me, and as I’ve gotten older, I’ve grown to enjoy traveling more than ever before.

When I was 12 years old, I flew on an airplane for the first time. My parents took my sisters and myself to Florida for a vacation, and I loved every minute of it. The whole experience of traveling seemed exciting to me then, and it still remains so today.

If I had to sum up in one word what appeals to me most about traveling, it would have to be “freshness.” There’s something positively exhilarating about going to new places for the first time. Viewing different types of geographical locations, hearing different languages spoken, and seeing unusual forms of transportation are all very interesting to me. Because I’m a real “foodie” and I’ve worked as a restaurant cook/chef for many years, I am especially interested in learning about, and sampling, lots of different types of foods.

Although I’ve been to London, Madrid and Paris, I am more interested in traveling through the United States. America is a very large country, and there are many fun and interesting attractions situated in every section of it.

I have had the opportunities to visit and view the Grand Canyon in Arizona, the Bonneville Salt Flats in Utah, South Carolina, the woods of New England, New York City, and numerous other locations. After visiting all of these places, I have learned that people are largely the same, no matter where you are. If you’re nice and friendly to other people, most of the time, they will act the same way towards you. Traveling also has a way of helping myself to remain humble and grateful. I’ve seen opulent wealth and real poverty, but I’m always reminded of how small I really am, in regard to the rest of this huge country.

Although I do enjoy everything from packing suitcases, to getting around in rental cars and double-deck buses, I think my favorite part of traveling is sampling pizza pies from each city that I visit. No matter what a person’s motivation is, traveling is usually an overall beneficial experience.
